The stupidest thing I heard yesterday

Hi

How's it goin?

Yesterday I went to the gym with my Dad. Yeah. I know. It's mental. And he kicked my arse. Literally.
Not literally.
But he really out did me at all things gym.

He can run faster, and longer, and better than me. This simply will not do.
Surely I am meant to be younger, stronger and faster.
Hmm. I must remedy this. Soon.
But that's beside the point.
After the gym I was getting a lift home when Althea text saying Ivano was going to get us all a chippy for dinner. Having just been to the gym I decided that a chippy would be a bad idea. So I stopped off past the Tesco round the corner. I don't frequent Tesco very often these days. Not since The Incident.
But it was the closest place to me. It was busy, it's just a small shop in a petrol station but it has a decent amount of food. But it was busy. Very busy. Full of students. There is a lot of student accommodation nearby. So this Tesco must be over run with them at times.
Anyway, I was making my way down the bread isle, like you do. And a student girl and her friend, (Who looked a bit like sporty spice from the spice girls.) were struggling to get some bagels as they were on the top shelf. They asked some guy to get them down, but he just ignored them and walked off. Being the gentlemen I am, I of course grabbed the bagels off the top shelf to help the poor girl out. She said thank you and walked on. As the two of them walked away, I overheard a conversation. A conversation I felt obliged to share with you dear reader.

Student Girl
These don't look very fresh do they?

Sporty Spice Looking Student
Not really.

Student Girl
Why is it so hard to get good bagels in this country?

Sporty Spice Looking Student
(Speaking in a very condescending tone)
Well obviously, because we're not in France are we? Duh!

That's All For Now

Until Next Time

The Tale Of Last Tuesday: Annoying Avid, a poor mans toaster, and the greatest t-shirt in the universe!

Hi

How's it goin?

So following on from yesterdays post about my rather good week last week. Here's what happened last Tuesday.

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 1st 2011

It's another early start for me on a Tuesday. This new timetable is not being kind to me. I am particularly proud of myself however. I made it into college for 8:30am! That's half an hour early. This may not sound overly impressive but I assure you, for me it's nothing short of a miracle. I rewarded myself with an overwhelmingly average sausage sandwich from the college canteen.

Tuesday is a day of editing. My class is in the edit suite for the entire day. This is great news as it means I don't have to rush through anything to make room for another class coming in. And the even better part is I am already a couple of steps ahead.
In late November I went to Bob's hotel for a couple of days to film a promo video for him. I haven't done much with the footage shot yet, but just before christmas I had a spare afternoon, so I went in and transferred all the footage from the camera disc to the computer and labelled everything. A process taking a couple of hours. This gave me a big advantage now in the edit class.

I logged on to Avid (the edit system we use in the college) and discovered that all my footage had been deleted!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Suffice to say I was slightly angry.
My reaction was very much an angry one.
For your benefit I have filmed a dramatic reconstruction of my reaction.
Actually I filmed two.
I am aware that my foul language can sometimes offend people, so in the following video you shall receive the PG version of my reaction, and then the real one. If foul and obscene language offends you, then please only watch the first 25 seconds.

If you can't see the video above then stop reading this crap on facebook and CLICK HERE

Fortunately I still had all the footage saved on the disc. But this was really irritating.

I then spent the next 7 hours playing around with footage and making a very rough cut.

Well, not 7 hours straight. I had a panini for lunch. And it was a crackin panini, as regular readers will know I've had some problems with Sandwich shops in the past. But I have since discovered the best sandwich shop in Aberdeen.

Upperkrust on School hill.
If you are ever in Aberdeen I highly recommend it. Tell them I sent you. They like me in there, they even bought TWO copies of my bookIsn't that nice?
Have you bought my book yet?
If not, why not? It's very good. Check out my reviews here.

After lunch I returned to class and back to the edit. Unfortunately there are 16 people in my class, and only 15 edit suites. They are taken on a first come, first serve basis. Fortunately for me 5 people didn't turn up for class today!
Winner!
Terrible behaviour though. And apparently some of them had a night out the night before.
Silly, silly boys and girls.

It was a long day in the edit suite, and by half past 4 I was desperate to get out of there. I am very grateful for the opportunity to use such fantastic equipment, but there's only so long you can sit at a computer before you go nuts! Especially with Avid. It's such a pain in the arse. I am getting better at using it but from what I am told, Final Cut Pro is a superior editing programme. Sadly I'm stuck with what the college have got. And the college do have a lot of fantastic stuff, much better than what's out there being used in the industry. So in many ways I am very lucky.

It was around 4:35pm, when I heard the ever familiar ding from my computer, informing me a new email had arrived. This was not a good e-mail.

It was from one of the Uni's I applied to.

Apparently they had not received the mini portfolio I sent them along with my application form. The mini portfolio is an online form they ask you to submit, which involves answering several questions and submitting a video of your work. I had done this over a week ago. It was now three days after the deadline.

Shit!

What had I done wrong?

Fooking computers!

My reaction went a little bit, like this.

If you can't see the video above then stop reading this crap on facebook and CLICK HERE.

The computer system wouldn't let me log back into the Uni's website in order to re submit. Oh dear. Has my university career come screeching to a halt before it has even began? (Or began again as the case may be.)
I fired off an email to the uni, explaining my situation and fortunately they allowed me to re submit. Of course this might all be a gigantic waste of time and stress as they will most likely look at the crap I sent them, and then decide i'm not fit for such a well respected University.
Which would be fair enough.

It was Tuesday evening where my day really became AWESOME.
First of all I saw this in a shop window while waiting for a bus.
Which I thought was pretty funny. I do love geeky humour.

Then it was on to glory!
I have began playing football on Tuesday nights. Nothing serious, just a bit of fun with the a few of my mates. Just in case you didn't know this dear reader, I feel I can tell you. I am shit at football. I mean proper shit. In many ways I am like someone on the teams retarded cousin who they allow to play because they feel sorry for him.  But I get to see my mates and run around for an hour, so that's always fun. But tonight, tonight was the night of nights.

Tonight I scored a goal.

In fact I scored TWO!

TWO FOOKING GOALS!!

HELL YEAH!

Then after school I got home and discovered that Ivano was cooking, so that save me a a job. I also discovered that the toaster must be broken, as Ivano appeared to be using the radiator to make toast.

And then I found my mail.
I had two truly wonderful pieces of mail waiting for me.
First I should give you some backstory on pice of mail number one.
About a year ago, I was a bit bored in class and I decided to apply to be on a game show. But not one game show. Any and every game show I could find. I applied to every game show in the UK that is currently shown. And two weeks ago I had an audition for one of them. I'm not gonna tell you which one, but this letter was in relation to that audition.

I GOT IN!!

I am now on a waiting list to appear on the show. It can take up to a year to actually get a place on the show, and I don't want to write about any part of the process or name the show until I've actually been on. That way if I lose and look like an idiot you will never know. But that was a pretty awesome piece of mail to receive.

Now for piece of awesome mail number two!

THE GREATEST T-SHIRT IN THE UNIVERSE!

Just a small note, if you don't understand this t-shirt, you are not nearly as cool as you think you are. And you are dead to me.

Everyone knows I love a good t-shirt. This newest acquisition comes from a website I discovered last week called tee fury. It's Brilliant. The site offers unique t-shirts, for 24 hours only! A different t-shirt every day. Every design is unique and every design only lasts for 24 hours. It's also incredibly cheap. Only $9. (Plus postage and packaging.) For all you fun loving t-shirt enthusiasts out there I highly recommend this fantastic website.

It was at this point that karma struck, I'd had such a great day. I was productive at school, I scored two goals, secured a place on a quiz show and I owned the greatest t-shirt known to exist. The universe had to balance itself out. Something bad had to happen to em to balance out all the good. And it did. Bad times struck me twice in the space of twenty minutes.

Grappa The Crazy Killer Demon Dog From Hell broke my favourite glass.

It was a glass I got free because I bought 6 bottles of Blue Moon. (currently one of my favourite beers) And that little fooker of a dog had broken it. No doubt a deliberate attempt to annoy me on the part of the dog. I wouldn't be surprised if she was planning on stabbing me to death with one of the shards. I hate the dog!!

Then while we ate dinner, Althea made us watch that Gypsy Weddings show thats on BBC 3 just now.
It's fucking mental.
At one point one of the gypsy's said,
"I'm not dumb, I just can't read!"
Fooking moron.
The good thing about this blog is, I can slag off that guy and he'll never know, as he can't read it.

Winner!
Today was a pretty good day, it was by the the most productive day i've had in weeks, if not months. So I have decided, tomorrow shall be equally as awesome.
Tomorrow I have class at 1:15, but I am gonna get up early and go in at 9am. I will not be stopped! I will be productive. I will have another awesome day!

Will my tomorrow be awesome?
Find out tomorrow at the crack of noon when I tell you...

The Tale of Last Wednesday:
Interchangeable Chefs, Tchuechter Weather and a very strange dinner request.

Star Wars: Attack of the Italians!

Hi

How's it goin?

So for the past few weeks I have been educating Ivano in the ways of Star Wars.
Now it's time for the latest instalment of the prequel trilogy.
Attack Of The Clones!
Here's what his hopes were for the film.
If you can't see the video above then stop reading this crap on Facebook and CLICK HERE

As soon as the opening music starts the first thing he said was,

"It's Superman! Are we watching Superman instead?"

In the first few minutes of the film when the ship explodes and it becomes clear that someone is trying to kill Padme, Ivano said,

"Hmm this is becoming intriguing."
Clearly he was starting to become invested in the story now.

When Annakin meets Padme, Ivano then got very excited.
"They are going to SHAG!!! Aren't they? Do they shag in this one or the next one? When do they shag?"

About halfway through this film Ivano made an observation about Padme.

"Did you notice that every time you her, she looks hotter and hotter, and is wearing hotter and hotter clothes, pretty soon she will be only wearing a thong!"

Althea revealed during the film that she is scared of planets.
I didn't have the heart to tell her that she currently lives on PLANET earth.

At this point in the film Ivano started to chuckle away to himself.

Andy: What is it?
Ivano: Her dress!
Andy: What?
Ivano: Look at her dress, she is wearing a target for him!

And when Ivano saw the scene below, he got more excited than I have seen him during any of the Star Wars films.
"Oh my God!!! A FLYING WHEELIE BIN!!!!"
He was screaming the above sentence.

If you can't see the video I have posted above then stop reading this crap on facebook and CLICK HERE.

Tune in next week when Ivano watches the final instalment of Star Wars.

The Great Handmade Burger Conspiracy Part Two: X-rated drinks, a mutant cow and a bloody good burger!

Hi

How's it goin?

Previously on The Blog Of Andy G......

And now the exciting conclusion of.........

The Great Handmade Burger Conspiracy

Althea and I had just finished our Starbucks, and decided to face the inevitable. This was our moment of destiny, would we get to use our two for one voucher? Or would we be forced to do the unthinkable, and eat at Frankie and Bennys. A fate that no man deserves.

We slowly approached the restaurant. As we walked, we passed one of those smoothie places that have popped up everywhere. They had buckets of oranges and pineapples on the shelves as decorations.

Decorative pineapples, that's mental!

Now I'll be honest with you dear reader. I wanted to steal one of those pineapples.

The last time I stole a pineapple it was brilliant!
Admittedly I don't remember much about this night, I don't know where this pineapple came from, or where it ended up. But according to this picture I am very happy to have it in my hands. I do know that we were in Poland. And I remember that shortly after this picture was taken, Aders nearly got in a fight because he asked a girl if we were in a gay bar or a straight bar. Because it was a very loud bar he had to use the international hand gestures gay and straight.

If you can't see the video above then stop reading this crap on facebook and CLICK HERE

Unfortunately for Aders, the girls who he was talking to had a boyfriend, a rather large boyfriend. He saw what Aders was doing and got the wrong end of the stick.

We left the bar rather quickly and never returned.

Anyway, back to the matter in hand. As well as decorative pineapples, they also had decorative baskets of oranges and lemons. I suggested Althea cause a distraction by dancing in front of the staff and I would swipe the pineapple. Althea wanted to take the oranges and lemons. A debate ensued.
Althea said that we could use the oranges and lemons to make some drinks of our own. We could combine orange and lemonade.

Names for this magical new drink were suggested.

Lemorange?

Orangon?

Then I came up with,

Lemonge.

Pronounced Le Minge.

I'm sure it will be a big hit!

In the end we stole nothing, as stealing is wrong. So you shouldn't do it.

Plus we were really hungry for our Handmade burger.

We continued our slow walk to the burger place. Both of us terrified that our desire for a Handmade Burger would not be fulfilled. We saw no one at the front door. Surely this is a bad sign.
And then as the restaurant came fully into view, we saw.......

People sitting down!

YOU BEAUTY!

The smoke had cleared.

Never in my life had I been so happy that I could get a burger! We were sat right away and we began our study of the menu.

Althea is perhaps one of the most indecisive people on the planet. She looked at the various options available. They have over 40 different types of burgers, which is just mental. Almost all of them sound ace. A couple however do not really appeal to me. Mainly the Veggie options.

An Onion Bhaji Burger??

And Althea seriously considered getting this.

Isn't that just an onion bhaji in a bun?

Maybe I am wrong, but it didn't appeal to me anyway. I opted for the Blue Cheese and Bacon Burger and Althea eventually decided on the BBQ Cheese and Bacon Burger.

The only thing I don't really like about Handmade Burger, is that no one takes your order. You have to go up and queue at the bar, and pay in advance. Also when they seat you they tell you what number section you are in, and you have to tell the cashier you are in section number whatever. Then they give you a card to stick on your table so the waiters know where you are.

Why not just number all the tables to start with?

I can see the advantage of the queuing at the bar system from the point of view of the business. It means you will likely need less staff and less training. It's much easier to control the cash flow, and it just saves on manpower. But it is really annoying. While we were there a couple did sit down at the table not far from us without being shown to a table, they just turned up and sat down. They waited for a good five or six minutes before anyone spoke to them. This is not anyones fault, it's just how this particular restaurant operates. The couple were shocked that they had to order at the bar, and they just got up and left. It is annoying from a customer  point of view, the restaurant is making the customer do something. Something that they can go next door and they don't have to do.

It must also be really crap on the staff for tips. No bill is payed at the end so no one is going to leave a tip, and to be honest why should they? Very little service is done. Yes, someone will bring you your food and check that your are enjoying your meal. But that's it. There is very little interaction between staff and customer. I did notice a coffee cup marked tips at the bar which had a handful of change in it, but I'm not gonna tip someone before I've even eaten. Which is a shame as I bet that very few people actually tip. It's a real pain in the arse from the staffs point of view. But on the other hand, it's probably not very hard, compared to other restaurants.

After we had decided what we were having, I noticed the queue had quite a few people in it, so I decided to wait at the table until it went down. Althea took this opportunity to look at the menu again and change her mind a further 12 times. She eventually decided on a Chicken BBQ Cheese and Bacon Burger. As soon as she said this I immediately joined the queue. It was actually longer than it was originally, but if I went up now it meant Althea could not change her mind again.

I placed my order and handed over my voucher, I ordered a portion of fries, a portion of onion rings, the two burgers, a sparkling water and a diet coke. Obviously one of the burgers was free due to the voucher so the total was just over £17. If I didn't have the voucher it would have been nearly £25. A bit pricey but the burgers are good. It is slightly annoying that you only get the burger, you need to order everything else separately. So a bowl of chips cost extra. Granted everything is home made, and everything is very good. But I'm poor. They do offer a 15% student discount but I couldn't get that today because of my free burger voucher.

The food came within 20 minutes, during which time Althea talked about how she once attempted to beat up a girl by jumping on her feet. Althea then ran away embarrassed that she didn't know how to beat anyone up. I pointed out to her that on the plus side no one chased after her, as the girl had sore feet.

Both burgers were excellent, cooked to perfection and tasted great. The chips were also very good. As were the onion rings. Although we could have done with a few more.

As I said we have been here a couple of times before. Most notably was about a month ago when Ivano was home. And it was on the fateful day, that Ivano uncovered The Great Handmade Burger Conspiracy.
When this video was made Althea was in a particularly bad mood with me. Mainly because I posted this picture of her on facebook.

If you can't see the video above, then stop reading this crap on facebook and CLICK HERE! It will BLOW YOUR MINDHOLE!

And so ends the tale of The Great Handmade Burger Conspiracy. Overall it was good. I will be going back. They have a loyalty card scheme and I have two stamps now!
Over all I give Handmade Burger....

One Thumb up!

Campaworld News

Hi

How's it goin?

It's been a while since I gave you an update on the fun filled wonderland that is Campaworld.

It's been all change here in recent months.

Ivano has taken a job in a very fancy hotel down south, so we very rarely see him around these parts anymore. He is head wine man, and he's loving it. He is lucky enough to get live in accommodation included with the job so that saves a bit of money. He spends 5 days down there and 2 days back here in Campaworld. And usually when he does come back he spends his time cleaning up after me and Althea, and then cooks us dinner.

It's a complex system we have going on here at Campaworld. Althea and Ivano are clearly the parents of the house, they both frequently cook for me and clean up after me. But within that unit there is a sub group. Where Althea and I are pretty much the kids. We forget to put out the bins, we run out of food and don't go to the shop, so we just order take aways. And when we do go to the shop we spend the majority of our money on sweets and crisps.

Whenever Ivano is home we do always have a good laugh and I have documented some of these occasions with my eye phone.
I have included a few of these videos here for your viewing pleasure.
In recent weeks some people have criticised the putting of videos on the blog. Well to those people I say, Fook you! I'll put whatever the hell I want on here. If you don't like it get your own blog.

For those of you who have been following the "Ivano watches Star Wars" series of posts, (as if anyone actually has) good news! Ivano as watched all the Star Wars movies now, and on Thursday I shall be writing up his thoughts on Episode II Attack Of The Clones.
It's very exciting.

Star Wars: The Italian Menace

Hi

How's it goin?
So Ivano has now watched,

Now it's time to move onto the vastly inferior prequel trilogy.

I decided to educate Ivano in Star Wars by exposing him to the films in the order they were released as opposed to the way they are numbered. I believe this is the best way to experience Star Wars. I see the prequel Trilogy as just that, a prequel, not the first part of a series. The beauty of the prequel trilogy is you know where it's going, you always know that Annakin is going to become Darth Vadar.

If you watch the original trilogy first you get to see one of the biggest twists in movie history, that Darth Vadar is Lukes father. That's a shock and it's one worth experiencing. If you watch the films in order they were numbered, it obviously ruins the empire strikes back. Well not ruins it, but spoils it a little.

Anyway here we go with The Phantom Menace.

As per usual here is a short intro video from Ivano about his expectations.
If you can't see the video above then stop reading this crap on facebook and CLICK HERE.

So the film starts, and the text appears on the screen just as it does every other film, the first thing Ivano says is,

"What does it mean?"
"What does what mean?" I reply.
"Menace? Like a threesome?" He asks.
"What?" I ask him.
"You know, ménace a trois."
"No. That's ménage."

He then started reading beyond the title,

"What's turmoil? Is it an oil company?"

Later on in the film he seemed very confused about Ewan Macgregor playing the young Obi Wan Kenobi, claiming that he looked like sting.

During the light saber battle with Obi Wan and Qui Gonn against Darth Maul, he appeared to be on the side of Darth Maul as he kept shouting,
"That's not fair, it's two against one! That's not fair!"

And when Darth Maul gets the better of Qui Gonn and stabs him with his light saber, it's quite an emotional moment in the film. Qui Gonn with his dying breath asks Obi Wan to train young Annakin to become a Jedi. All Ivano did was shout at the screen,

"The boy is a tosser!!"

Near the end of the film Ivano also suffered from some confusion regarding the various actors, just as he did with the original trilogy.

"Who's that black guy?" He asked.
"Samuel L Jackson." I told him.
"No. Are you sure? Is it not something Freeman?"
"Do you mean Morgan Freeman?" I enquired.
"Yes, Morgan Freeman." He seemed quite chuffed with himself.
"No, it's Samuel L Jackson, trust me. It is NOT Morgan Freeman."
"Are you sure?"

So the film ended and as per usual I made this short video to document his reaction. In this video he accuses someone of being a pedophile, and once again confuses Samuel L Jackson with Morgan Freeman.
If you can't see the video above then stop reading this crap on facebook and CLICK HERE.

Come back next week where Ivano watches Episode II Attack of the Clones.

Same Jedi Time.

Same Jedi Channel.
