30 Day Challenge Day 3: A picture of the cast from your favourite TV show

Hi

How's it goin?

Another tough one for me today. I am a massive TV geek. And I am a TV Production Student, so I have to watch TV a lot. That's my excuse anyway. I decided to narrow done my options to make it an easier decision, whatever I pick must currently be on TV.
After giving it much thought I decided on The Office. (US version)

I was a big fan of The Office when it originally came out. And the american remake doesn't have that big an audience in the UK. Which is a real shame. It's really, really good. It's now a very different show from it's british parent. It's consistently funny and just been renewed for a an 8th season. Steve Carell has been playing the boss for the past 7 years, but he is leaving before the end of this season, so the internet is ripe with rumours as to who will be replacing him.

If you've never seen it I def recommend giving it a watch. Season 2 onwards is when it gets really good.

Other potential contenders for my favourite TV show were,
Doctor Who
Torchwood
Stargate SGU

But the first two are not currently on TV (they will be back on our screens soon) and Stargate SGU has just been cancelled. Which is just WRONG! It's fooking brilliant! Why do good TV shows keep getting killed off too early.
Bastard TV execs!

The Tale of Last Friday: A big poop, robot pets and the flaming fashion show.

Hi

How's it goin?

And as the weekend approaches, only three more days remain in the retelling of a week in the life of Andy G. Here is what happened last Friday.

Friday February 4th 2011

The morning was something of a wasted morning. Depends on how you look at it.

I didn't actually wake up until noon. So I did catch up on some much needed sleep, but this meant I didn't do anything productive. I then watched all my favourite american TV shows that aired last night in the states. The Office, Parks and Recreation, The Big Bang Theory, 30 Rock and Community. None of these shows have a particularly large audience in the UK, which is a shame as they are all really, really good. Anyway, this took up another hour and a half of my time.

I decided to try and do something constructive with my day, so I went for a run. I took Grappa The Crazy Killer Demon Dog From Hell with me, as an attempt to be friends. She then thanked me by having the biggest poop I have ever seen in my life. I hate the dog!

Speaking of Grappa, I received this amusing tweet from fellow blogger, Ian. S. Davidson.

I was intrigued, I do hate Grappa, and I do love Star Wars.
This is the link he sent me.

I WANT ONE!!

How cool a pet is that?

It was another night working in The Club for me. Tonight was a fashion show, followed by a salsa dance night.

I'm not gonna lie to you, it was pretty dull.

I arrived at 6:30 and the place was pretty much ready to go. All the tables and chairs were in position and arranged so the models could do their thing. The organiser also had some of her own candles on the tables. They were small tea light candles in a white ceramic pot, as opposed to our large red candles in a glass jar. They looked kinda nice and added something to the atmosphere of the room.
Twenty minutes later I discovered that the candles were not in a ceramic pot, they were in a PAPER HOLDER!!!

FOOKING PAPER!!

Paper + Candles = Fire!

I ran over to a table that had caught fire, grabbed a beer from a neighbouring table, and extinguished the fire.
A bottle of San Miguel saves the day again.
Fortunately it was just the candle holder that had caught fire, and not the tablecloth and the whole damn table.
Fooking idiots!

I promptly removed all of the organisers candles and replaced them with our own. She asked me why and I said that we are not keen on burning down the building.

The show took ages, and was not overly exciting, 30 seconds before it started a woman came up to me and asked for the microphone.
"What microphone?"
Was my response. She just assumed we had a microphone for her, we don't have any mic's in the building, anytime something like this happens they use their own equipment. This woman seemed quite annoyed at me.
Hmmmm
Not my fault you're not prepared luv!
After the show came the Salsa night, it was not very exciting, although one guy was spinning on the dance floor faster than I had ever seen anyone spin, ever.
At one point during the evening I saw a couple do that link arms and drink thing.
You know, this thing...
And they weren't doing it ironically. This wasn't an attempt to be funny, they were dead serious every time they did it. And they did it about 10 times. Sometimes two or three times with the same drink. Weirdos.

Around midnight, the bouncer told me that a customer told him that we were open until 2am tonight. I had checked the paperwork for this booking, and I had checked with the organiser before we opened. We were closing at 1am. So where this guy got the idea we are open until two is beyond me. Then I spotted the poster for this event.
And there it was clear as day, 9pm-2am.
BASTARDS!
Well the organiser woman told me 1am, and the bouncers are paid until 1am, so that's when we're fooking closing.

After what seemed like years, 1am finally rolled around, and the music stopped, the lights went up, and we started cleaning up. All the customers started making their way out, but then one guy demanded to see the manager.

He was going mental!

He just kept shouting that the ticket says 2am, and he paid to stay until 2 am. This isn't fair. I explained that we were simply providing the venue and the posters were wrong and the fault of the organiser, he then demanded I call the organiser immediately. She had, very wisely, left about an hour ago. Presumably because she knew this would happen. I told the guy complaining that she had left but he demanded her number. I refused. He couldn't seem to understand that I was not going to give him, a loud drunkard, the organisers number so he could call her at quarter past 1 in the morning to complain about us closing at 1. He demanded I do something.  I gave him the e-mail address for The Club and told him to send us a message and we would pass it on. That was the best we could do. He then said this wasn't good enough, and he was going to complain about me, he asked for my name an if I was the manager. I gave him the standard response, my name is Phil.

Last night I did something I have never done before!

Hi
Hows it goin?
Last night I got sent home from work early. It was very quiet, and I wasn't needed. I am desperate for cash but was secretly glad at this cos it meant I could get home in time for Ashes to Ashes.

Which was brilliant! I think it was probably the greatest opening of any tv episode ever.

But Ashes to Ashes was later in the evening. It happened after the monumental event in my life. I had heard about this thing for years. I had seen it, but never actually partaken. But now the time was upon me. It happens to every man at some point in his life. It's a right of passage, one of the many trials which will make me a better human being.

People had been doin this for years. It's not like I was the first person to do this. It's not like I discovered this phenomenon. But it was a monumental moment in the life of Andy G, one which I think has changed me, for the better.

I had dabbled in this field before, but not to this extent. I had dipped my toe in the metaphorical pool, but never actually taken the metaphorical swim.

But this was it.

The time was now!

Last night I did it. I changed my ways. I did something I had only seen other people do, and I laughed at those people.

What were they thinking?

Were they insane?

Why would anyone do such a thing?

Ever?

It defies sense.

But as regular readers will be aware. I am currently in the middle of a slight financial crisis. Funds are tight, so last night, I took the plunge.

I went to the shop, put what I needed in the basket, gave the cashier a handful of change and came home.

And then, that's when it happened, that's when my life changed, that's when I jumped into the metaphorical pool head first!

Last night..........

I had a Salad for dinner!

A salad, just a salad.

TV from the weekend

Hi

Hows it goin?

Ok I'm not gonna lie to you, things are gonna get a little geeky.
This post has some video's in it, so stop reading this crap on facebook and

3 great TV shows from the weekend.

Beware of spoilers!!

Stargate Universe

After a 5 month absence from our screens Stargate Universe returned. There are 10 episodes left of the first season and so far every episode has been brilliant. With the latest being no exception. I was disappointed that the return of Dr Rush came so soon, it was still a cracking episode.

ASHES TO ASHES

Another cracking return to form with the third and final series of Ashes to Ashes. I think Sam Tyler is going to make a return in some form, and who the hell is Gene Hunt??

and of course the best for last,

DOCTOR WHO!

It was brilliant!

Matt Smith was brilliant as the newly regenerated Doctor. Steven Moffat is a great writer and I look forward to the rest of the series. The groundwork has been laid for a recurring theme throughout the series, with the comments from the baddie,
"The universe is cracked, the pandorica will open, silence will fall."

What's a pandorica?
Hmm?
Series one had Bad Wolf.
Series two had Torchwood.
Series three had Saxon.
Series four had the missing planets.
The specials had the "knock four times."
And now series five has "silence will fall."
I wonder what that means.
Did anyone notice the crack on the doctors monitor at the end of the episode?
It was very similar to the crack on Amy Pond's wall.
I suspect that will come back to haunt the characters later.
I also think the doctor has another reason for choosing Amy Pond as his companion, not just cos he's lonely, but something to do with the crack in the wall.
That's just my theory.

I also really liked the line "Who the man?"

An update on my New Years Challenges

Hi
Hows it goin?

Regular readers might remember at the end of 2009 I set myself 10 challenges for 2010.

Most of these were particularly easy tasks, hence the reason I said I would do them. Since it is now April I thought I better give you an update on how I am getting on.

1 I will find Dave Bailey and buy him a pint!

I haven't done this yet. I have a couple of leads and I hope to follow up on them this summer.

2 I will complete my 50 envelope challenge.

This is coming along nicely, I am over half way through, I haven't put them all online yet as I am hoping that replies are en-route.

3 I will write and direct my own film.

The film is written, but since I am on holiday from school at the moment filming is currently on hiatus until mid April.

4 I will not fail school.

So far, so good. Altho at the moment I am suffering from an extreme lack of motivation. That's one of the reason I am doing the Blog ever day for a month, I am hoping that writing everyday will bring out my creative side.

5 I will take a road trip down south.

Not got round to this yet, I am hoping to get round to this in summer time, assuming I can get some money.

6 Super secret amazingly awesome project number 1.

Alright, confession time. This was meant to be a surprise party for Kev, it was his birthday and he became a doctor in January. So Alice (his future wife) and myself were organising a surprise party for him, it was going to be epic. I was even going to do a musical number. But then Alice told him about it. In her defence she did have her reasons. Kev had his big doctor interview 3 days after the date we wanted for the party.

7 Super secret amazingly awesome project number 2.

This project is coming along nicely, I don't want to say too much but it is awesome, and amazing! I hope to make an announcement revealing the details of this super secret project within a couple of months.

8 I will start watching 24.

Not got round to this yet, I will eventually. Can someone lend me the DVD? I am too poor to buy it.

9 I will finally watch Lord Of The Rings.

Same as above

10 I will go to Edinburgh zoo.

I will be in Edinburgh in late April for filming with my classmates, I will be back in June for Ian's wedding, and Adam is back in August so I'm sure I will be down in Edinburgh then. So I will def visit the zoo on one of these occasions and I will try my best to steal an animal. I'm thinking a monkey, or maybe a penguin.

So that's about it, considering how easy my challenges are, I am quite disappointed that I have done so little of them. I will keep you updated as to my progress throughout the year.

Thats All For Now

Until Next Time

Blog Every Day For A Month

Hi
Hows it goin?

I have decided to challenge myself. I discovered this website a couple of days ago and I have decided to participate. I am hoping this will keep me busy and serve as a distraction from my ever increasing financial difficulties which are causing me a great deal of stress.
The premise is quite simple. I will blog every day for a month. The month of April. I am curious to see what I am able to come up with. So every day, at the crack of noon through the month of April 2010, something will be posted on this blog. And it won't just be crap. I will try and come up with something interesting every day.
There is a lot happening in April,
The return of Doctor Who
The return of Stargate Universe
The return of Ashes to Ashes.
I realise thats just TV, but that's something to write about at least.
I'm also going to Edinburgh for a couple of days at the end of April for filming, so I might drop in on my old friends from Tapas Towers.
So, that being said, is there anything in particular you would like me to write about?
I am open to anything. I am probably going to struggle to come up with something for every day, so if you have something you would like me to talk about then let me know. I will tackle any subject.

Thats All For Now

I think I'm getting married

Hi.
Hows it goin?
Someone commented to me lately that this blog is meant to be "The Drunken adventures of a mature student" and i haven't talked about any drunken escapades lately.
I decided to remedy that.

As some of you will know I recently tried to give up drinking until December.
Well last night I fell off the wagon. Well maybe not fell off, so much as jumped off.
I willfully jumped off the wagon into a pool of drunkenness and it was wonderful.

It occurs to me that I have mentioned the restaurant where I work a few times in the past and no doubt will continue to do so in the future. Just as I did with The Tapas Towers, I feel should give the restaurant a suitable pseudonym, other than "The Restaurant." So henceforth The Restaurant which is good enough to employ me on a part time basis which allows me to take out all my frustrations on all the incredibly stupid customers who I am fairly certain get more irritating as life goes on, shall be known as Vincents. After the owner Vinnie. The owners name is not Vinnie but this is something Adam came up with a few years ago after meeting him. He said he seems like a Vinnie. Which in some respects he does.
So last night was just another fun filled friday night at Vincents, We had a large party of norweigans who took up most of my time. We get a shit load of Norski's in Vincents, I'm fairly certain that we are the unofficial norweigan embassy in Aberdeen. It's good business i suppose but 9 times out of 10 they are always so fucken rude. One guy clicked his fingers at me last night. I asked him if he was looking for his dog and then i left him to it.
Now good reader, you are obviously an incredibly wise and intelligent person, this is obvious because you have chosen to read my blog. Let me tell you this, NEVER EVER click your fingers or whistle to get attention in a restaurant. You will be ignored, or if your not ignored then more than likely something unpleasant will happen to your food.
I have never sabotaged a meal or drink in any restaurant i have worked in, but i know plenty of people who have.
Have you ever seen the movie Waiting. It's brilliant. buy it right now!

It will show what some waiters are really like. I have heard stories from friends about almost identical things that happen in this movie.

Anyway, I digress.

Back to last night.

I wasn't planning on drinking, it just sort of happened. I initially stopped because when Sean was visiting i was drunk every day. So i stopped altogether and life was just dull. so last night after work i thought FUCK IT! lets go get fucked up! This was also inspired by Ian the new manager at Vincents insisting we have a bottle of wine with our staff meal after work, by insisting i mean suggesting. So we drank that between 3 of us and then headed down to the club below Vincents, it was bollywood night. It wasn't very busy but there were a few hotties in, and the girls on the dance floor were going mental! I mean proper mental. I don't mean insane mental, I mean dancing mental (just so we're clear). I talked before about my friend Ian from edinburgh, when he came up to help me move my stuff to aberdeen, I discovered that he's got more moves than my friend Marks bowels after a curry, well sorry mate, I don't think you could keep up with these girls.
So after a couple of ciders (i'm told there less fattening) I decided to head home. But as i was leaving i remembered something, something my partially drunk brain thought was very, very important.
Earlier that day i got a text from my mate Nick asking if I wanted to come round to his house for a few drinks and then head into town. I was forced to say no because i was working, but surely everyone else can't be working. They all have "proper jobs" where they don't have to work on friday nights. I fired off a few texts.
"anyone out tonight?"
The always sarcy bugger Dave simply replied "yes"
I eventually discovered the boys were indeed out on the razz ma tazz and we arranged to meet in Espionage.
Now there has always been a problem with me working in the restaurant then going out after. I might finish work around 11:30 and have a beer or 2 when im done, but by this point all the boys have been drinking for 3 and a bit hours. So when I eventually met them they were all truly buckled and i was only tipsy.
Nick in particular was truly out of it. Nick was out with his fiancee Karen and one of her mates, a blond girl. A couple of the guys were sleazing on her like there was no tomorrow. Goggs at one point seemed quite chuffed with himself when he had been talking to her for 5 minutes straight and she hadn't run away. The look on her face however told another story. Now I don't know if it was deliberate or not, but for some reason, Goggs poured some of his drink down blondies top. No one knows why. He spilt some down her and then turned to face us with a massive grin on his face. He seemed quite chuffed with his actions. I think he may have been trying to initiate some kind of tribal mating custom. I don't think he pulled her, good on him for trying an original approach tho. It was good night, even tho I'm not working as much, i am still not going out enough, this is mainly due to funds, but fuck it. Might as well be like every there student out there and get into shitload of debt. Another highlight of last night was getting to see Drunk Aders, Drunk Aders is perhaps one of my favourite people. He is highly entertaining while intoxicated. At one point during the evening he said pulled me over saying he needed to tell me a secret. I'm always one for a bit of gossip so leaned over, fully expecting him to tell me he's coming out of the closet or he is secretly in love with a goat or something of equal interest.
"i think i'm a little bit drunk."
Well I'm lad he told me because at this point i hadn't noticed, I thought all the struggling to stand up and slurring of words was a medical condition.
by this point it was around 1:30 am, and i was starting to catch up with everyone (drunkenness wise) and i got a phone call. Now its not unusual for me to get a phone call at half one in the morning when you knows as many drunkards as I do, but oddly the number was withheld.
I couldn't hear a thing down the phone. I moved to a quieter area and still couldn't hear anything. it was a bit of a bad line, this added to the fact i was in a night club and i was a tad drunk did not equal an intelligent conversation. I could barely make out what they were saying.
it sounded like a woman, she sounded foreign, but i couldn't tell where from. i asked who she was and the line kept crackling and i couldn't hear her response. I thought maybe it was my friend Caryn from south africa, I havent heard from her in ages.
"CARYN IS THAT YOU?" i screamed down the phone.
I just couldn't make out what she was saying.
I don't think it was her.
i heard her say "Andy Graham" so obviously she has the right number, and i heard her say something about Aberdeen college, thought it was one of my classmates, i shouted a few of there names down the phone but i couldn't hear the response.
I apologised alot and explained i couldn't hear them, i suppose i could have walked outside the club to talk to them in a much quieter place, but bugger that. It was raining outside and i had a drink in my hand.
"I'm really sorry i can't understand you, its a really bad line. If i know you i'm sure I love you very much and i will talk to you again soon."
This seemed to get there attention
I could barely hear her say "you love me?"
I shouted down the phone
"i'm sure if i know you then hell yeah probably love you, but if this is a wrong number then i probably don't, no offence"
and then i am 99% certain she asked if i wanted to marry her.
"that means you'll fuck me right?"
I couldn't hear the response, i can only assume it was yes.
I hope she's not fat.
So i think i said i would marry her. I only wish I knew who it was.
so if my fiancee is out there, maybe try giving me another call, and letting me know your name, and letting me know whether or not you are a minger, if you are then the wedding is probably off. Ill still have the stag do tho. Adam of course would be the best man, he's had the speech planned for years. And I his. The best thing about my speech for Adams wedding is it is almost identical to his eulogy (i think thats how you spell it, im not a eugoogliser).
"I can't believe Adam is married/ is dead" (delete as appropriate)

In other news the hunt for Dave Bailey continues, So far I have learned that he is not in greece and that everyone agrees he is a fucking legend.

Here's one of my favourite songs which i think all the boys from last night can relate to

If you can't see any of the videos on this page then stop reading this crap on facebook and go here

Geeky TV Rant (plus alot of amazon adverts)

Hi.
Hows it going?
Hope all is cool with you.
Sadly all is not cool with me. I am ill! I didn’t go into work on Saturday and my condition has just deteriorated since then. I missed class on Monday and the only reason I went into today was because I had a big test. I got very little sleep last night so went my alarm went off at stupid o’clock in the morning I considered not leaving my bed. After about 15 minutes I eventually motivated myself to move. I would go to class, do the test, leave early and find a doctor. And I promised myself I would have a nap later. This test is a big deal so I thought I better have a proper breakfast. It consisted of this.

As all of you know I am a massive geek. I watch more TV shows than anyone I know. Most of these are American comedies or sci fi shows and I thought I'd share my insights into a couple of them now.
I’ve just finished reading Flash Forward By Robert J Sawyer. It’s very good. It’s about a scientific experiment gone wrong. The whole world blacks out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds, but in those 2 minutes and 17 seconds they all see a vision of themselves 21 years in the future. The book is about a group of scientists trying to figure out why this happened. Not everyone liked what they saw so can the future be changed? It’s a pretty good book. I didn’t like some elements of the ending but definitely worth checking out if your heading on a long train journey or holiday or something.
The main reason I was reading it was its just been turned into a new TV show. Its kinda being hyped to be a replacement for LOST which has its final season starting in January. The first two episodes are Brilliant. It has the same situation with the blackout except it shows everyone themselves 6 months in the future as opposed to 21 years. It also focus’s on an FBI task force trying to solve the mystery of the “flashforward” as opposed to the group of scientists in the book. There is also the added mystery of video footage taken during the blackout of one person walking around. The whole world was unconscious but he was not. That’s the cliffhanger for episode one. So I guess I just spoiled the ending there, but that’s just one episode, So far I prefer the TV show to the book. Its on channel 5 in the uk. Watch it! Its ace!

While bored on Twitter the other day I noticed James Buckley posted this (Jay from The Inbetweeners ) posted a link to this.
It seems he will be playing Del Boy in a prequel to Only Fools and Horses
Am I the only one who thinks this is a terrible idea?
I loved Only Fools, infact I remember I once fell off a chair I was laughing so much. (this is actually true, I spilt my cup o tea down my favourite batman t-shirt, it was hot. It hurt! A lot.) But I think towards the end it kind of lost its way, it was too much of a good thing. I think it should have ended when they won all the money and walked off into the rainbow. But it came back for more, I watched the episodes after that, they were alright but not brilliant. This prequel will apparently also be starring Nicholas Lyndhurst as “Freddy the Frog” (Rodneys real Dad). I don’t whether this is a good thing or not. The whole thing just screams “BAD IDEA” to me. I think Only fools should just be left alone, It was brilliant so just let it rest in peace. I hope I am wrong and this prequel show turns out to be even better than its parent, but doubt it.
In some ways its like Red Dwarf. That used to be one of my favourite shows. It was Fucken ace. Then Chris Barrie left in series 7 and Chloe Annet came in as Kochanski. Ask any Red Dwarf Fan and they will tell you that’s when it started to go downhill. I watched the new episodes “Back To Earth" when they were on Dave, I even bought the Box set. But it never blew me away. Sometimes you should just leave things alone. Red Dwarf could have went out on a high but instead it seems to be limping on. I still liked “back to earth” and if anymore Red Dwarf gets made then ill def be watching and probably buying but for a lot of people, if it does come back , its gonna have to be Fucken amazing in order to win them back. Not everyone is as big a geek as I am.
Speaking of all things geeky. It seems Doctor Who will not only have a new Doctor but a new Logo.
I like it, I like the way it kinda looks like the tardis. And yes it is currently the wall paper on my phone.

Fucken hell I am a geek aren’t I?
On that note im gonna go.
I’m currently re watching all of Lost, I've just started season 3.
Time to find out about those pesky others!
Until next time
Have a Nice
